In the 70s a Native American hat maker became famous with his handmade hat bands made of natural materials of bones, skins, polished stones, furs, claws, and feathers. His original hats have his horse shoe stamp with a 1 in the middle. Those are highly collectable. No two were ever alike.

Charlie 1 Horse brand was founded in 1980, and manufactures a unique line of custom designed western hats. The now famous, front-decorated western hats and the genuine firebrand are unmistakably Charlie. The introduction of Charlie 1 Horse and its early success was based on very speacialized syles with limited availability. This strategy made th brand a sought-after exclusive.
